JIGSAW PUZZLES

Experimental Breeder Reactor-I

Puzzle Day EBRI

Experimental Breeder Reactor-I is a National Historic Landmark where usable electricity was first generated from nuclear energy in 1951, powering the four lightbulbs you see below.

It’s the only place in America where you can see four nuclear reactors — including two aircraft nuclear propulsion prototypes, a reactor control room, remote handling devices for radioactive materials, radiation detection equipment and much more.

Advanced Test Reactor

Puzzle Day ATRThe Advanced Test Reactor (ATR) is the only U.S. research reactor capable of providing large-volume, high-flux thermal neutron irradiation in a prototype environment.

ATR’s unique serpentine core allows the reactor’s corner lobes to be operated at different power levels, making it possible to conduct multiple simultaneous experiments under different testing conditions.

Advanced Visualization

Puzzle Day CAVEThe Applied Visualization Laboratory in the Center for Advanced Energy Studies contains several 3D immersive environments for scientists and engineers to walk into their data, examine it and provide deep analysis in pursuit of their research.
