INL invites students to explore computer science at new Digital Discovery Night event

(IDAHO FALLS, Idaho) — The Idaho National Laboratory invites local K-12 students and their families to attend Digital Discovery Night, a new STEM education event focused on computer science, cybersecurity and more. The event will be held at the INL Meeting Center in Idaho Falls on Friday, May 9, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Families will meet INL experts, engage in hands-on activities and demonstrations, and learn how INL is helping to power and protect the nation’s energy future. Participation is free, but space is limited and registration is required. Interested parents should register their families here.

The event format will be familiar to families that have attended INL’s Family Nuclear Science Night before, but with a new suite of activities that focus on the lab’s work in computer science, cybersecurity, high-performance computing and related fields. Participants will explore coding, robotics, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and other learning activities. Students will receive a punch card of activities to complete and other freebies they can gather throughout the evening of interactive learning.
