Materials Scientist . . . and mentor

P Langhorst
Ben Langhorst is a materials scientist at INL. Ben earned INL’s Mentor of the Year Award for his work with Washington State University undergraduate student Andrew Robinson.

During Andrew’s 10-week internship at INL, Ben guided his work on a research project to characterize the performance benefits of using polymers in advanced lightweight armor to protect vehicles used by military, law enforcement and emergency responders.

Andrew said the work inspired him to explore graduate degree programs in the field.
