Battelle Energy Alliance opens application process for two community programs
IDAHO FALLS — Battelle Energy Alliance, operator of Idaho National Laboratory, today announced the application period for its fiscal year 2016 Community Giving and Technology-based Economic Development campaigns. The 2016 charitable donation campaign focuses on two programs, each with a distinct audience and aim. BEA is asking all requests for charitable donations related to each category be submitted by Oct. 15, 2015.
Fiscal Year 2016 Community Giving Campaign
Through the INL Community Giving program, BEA provides corporate-funded donations in selected areas including human services, health, environment, arts and civic projects.
“We consider it our responsibility to make a positive impact on our community,” said Amy Lientz, director of INL Partnerships team.
Since 2005, the program has provided support for a variety of outreach efforts with a positive impact in the community.
“Our first priority for the Community Giving program will be to give to organizations that support the basic needs of children and the underprivileged. Community Giving projects include everything from feeding the hungry and providing basic shelter to improving the quality of life,” said Lori Priest, contributions administrator.
Fiscal Year 2016 Technology-based Economic Development Campaign
The second program, INL Technology-based Economic Development program, targets projects aimed at spurring regional economic development, technology-based economic development, talent pipeline, and entrepreneurship in the region.
“Projects that complement the mission of the lab in nuclear energy, clean energy and national and homeland security are at the top of our list to fund in 2016. We’re looking for impactful projects that boost the regional economy in novel ways,” said Stephanie Cook of INL’s Economic and Workforce Development team.
Application information and submission process for fiscal year 2016 Community Giving and Technology-based Economic Development campaigns
All requests for INL charitable donations need to be submitted on the 2016 donation request form by Oct. 15. Decisions about 2016 contributions will be made on or before Dec. 15. Notifications will be sent to requesting organizations informing them of funding awards. Funds will be for projects for the period of Oct. 1, 2015, to Sept. 30, 2016.
Eligibility criteria: Organizations must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit entities. A copy of the IRS tax-exempt letter must accompany the form. INL’s charitable donation program does not fund political or religious organizations, emergency response, courtesy advertisements, athletic programs or events, individuals, contests or extracurricular school activities. This funding does not include requests for K-12 education donations.

From there, select Menu on the top right, then choose Partner with INL, then choose either Community and Education Outreach or Economic and Workforce Development. Applications are due for consideration by Oct. 15. Applications submitted after Oct.15 will not be included in the review process.
