Idaho National Laboratory releases Civet open-source software for developers
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — Idaho National Laboratory recently released a new open-source tool for software developers. The Continuous Integration, Verification, Enhancement and Testing tool, or Civet for short, is the latest INL software to be released free to the public on the lab’s GitHub website. INL hopes to collaborate with the public to refine this high-quality tool and to improve the productivity of software developers who use it.
Each step in software development is time-consuming and error-prone, which keeps software developers from doing what they are particularly good at: solving problems and authoring solutions. Civet automates the process of making changes to software, allowing developers to work on less menial tasks and supporting quality at every stage.
Originally designed to be used with INL’s MOOSE modeling and simulation platform, the tool can be used for any software development.
INL is one of the U.S. Department of Energy’s national laboratories. The laboratory performs work in each of DOE’s strategic goal areas: energy, national security, science and environment. INL is the nation’s leading center for nuclear energy research and development. Day-to-day management and operation of the laboratory is the responsibility of Battelle Energy Alliance.
