Nuclear Science Week
Each year organizations around the world observe Nuclear Science Week, celebrating all the ways nuclear science improves our lives. In conjunction with Idaho National Laboratory’s 75th anniversary, this year the lab is hosting the national event for Nuclear Science Week in partnership with the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History. We will hold a variety of activities on and around that week.

Thursday, Oct. 17
Virtual presentation: Nuclear 101
Learn all about nuclear energy and how the nation’s nuclear fleet produce more than half of our clean energy.

Friday, Oct. 18
Virtual presentation: The 52 Reactors of INL history
Learn about INL’s history as the nation’s nuclear energy laboratory, where 52 reactors were built and demonstrated.

Nuclear Science Week opening reception
Distinguished guests representing Idaho and the nuclear industry will gather to usher in Nuclear Science Week at INL.

INL nuclear facilities tour: EBR-I Atomic Museum, Advanced Test Reactor Complex
Tour historic facilities on the INL desert Site: the Advanced Test Reactor and Experimental Breeder Reactor-I.

K-12/STEM Nuclear Science Show
Radiochemist Cathy Riddle delivers a fun-filled show demonstrating scientific principles for K-12 students. Cathy is joined by a group of local businesses bringing a variety of activities that are fun for all ages.

Tour some of INL’s facilities in Idaho Falls, including the lab that studies how to integrate new technology into today’s reactors, the center of INL’s Integrated Energy Systems program, and the home of the lab’s supercomputers.
