Contributing to communities
Battelle Energy Alliance, the nonprofit organization that operates INL, is deeply committed to corporate citizenship and community giving and encourages this commitment in employees. In eastern Idaho and western Wyoming and on the Fort Hall Reservation our Community Engagement programs support organizations providing for the basic needs of underserved individuals and families. Our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and our support for economic justice are a great source of pride at all levels.

United Way
INL employees pledged more than $730,000 in 2023 to support nonprofit charities. The annual United Way campaign includes $55,000 from Battelle Energy Alliance. INL’s campaign makes up the largest contribution the Idaho Falls and Pocatello United Way organizations serving the region. The donations help a growing number of local people struggling due to the rising costs of housing and health care.
Team INL supported community service projects
Team INL hosted 14 projects, including its largest community service project, placing 150 volunteers with four projects across the Idaho Falls Community. Human Resources and Diversity employees came together to tackle projects at the Idaho Falls Community Food Basket, Idaho Falls YMCA, Ronald McDonald Family Room and Tautphaus Park Zoo. The group cleaned up the grounds at a local food pantry, painted a community recreation facility, cooked meals for families with sick or injured children, and improved habitats at the local zoo.
Construction Combine provided hands-on experience
Battelle Energy Alliance enabled over 80 high school students, half from rural school districts, to experience an introduction to trade professions including welding, framing, plumbing and electrical work. The two-day Construction Combine was facilitated through over 100 volunteers organized by the Idaho Falls Technical High School, BEA, the College of Eastern Idaho, local contractors, and a project safety supervisor from the Shoshone-Bannock Tribe. The project-based learning opportunity focused on building 10 sheds that were gifted to disabled veterans in eastern Idaho.
Gathering for good: Idahoans support statewide giving campaign
The Idaho Gives awareness and fundraising campaign is designed to support nonprofit agencies that provide services to Idaho communities. The campaign allows potential donors to explore a variety of organizations making a positive impact in the state. The Idaho Nonprofit Center runs Idaho Gives with the support of businesses, including Battelle Energy Alliance. This year, 13,096 donors gave $3,854,424, leading to over $23 million in total funds raised for the past 11 years of the program.
