Wyoming educators to collaborate with INL at STEM Conference
IDAHO FALLS – Soon Wyoming K-12 educators and Idaho National Laboratory (INL) employees will collaborate on training opportunities and resources to expand their knowledge about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) topics and how to use the information in their classrooms.
As a longtime supporter of STEM education, INL is conducting professional development sessions at the 2015 Roadmap to STEM Conference where the Idaho STEM
(i-STEM) program will be introduced to participants. The i-STEM program is a nationally and internationally recognized STEM professional development model that helps educators integrate new ideas, methods and technologies into their curriculum.
The 2015 Roadmap to STEM Conference, held Aug. 3-5 at the Northern Wyoming Community College District in Sheridan, Wyoming, is sponsored by the Wyoming Department of Education and will provide STEM educator professional development, including training, curriculum, classroom resources, materials, continuing education credits and connections to STEM experts. The professional development sessions are designed for educators, administrators, counselors and curriculum coordinators who have an interest in starting or improving STEM education.
“We’re looking forward to working with our Wyoming colleagues to offer large-scale professional development opportunities for educators,” said Anne Seifert, executive director of i-STEM and INL’s K-12 education coordinator. “STEM topics are increasingly important as educators prepare students to become participating and contributing members of today’s global society and the future STEM workforce.”
More information about the i-STEM program is available at www.sde.idaho.gov/site/istem and information regarding the Wyoming 2015 Roadmap to STEM Conference is available at http://edu.wyoming.gov/communications/news/2015-2/march/stem-2015/.
