Proclamation
WHEREAS, cybersecurity training for a highly skilled and diversified workforce is critical to Idaho and the nation’s competitiveness; and
WHEREAS, Idaho has a strong national leadership role in establishing cybersecurity best practices and innovation for critical infrastructure protection; and
WHEREAS, Idaho’s Cybersecurity Task Force worked with regional and national experts to engage cyber education, training and public outreach opportunities; and
WHEREAS, the Idaho State Board of Education, The U.S. Department of Energy, the Idaho National Laboratory, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center, and the Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Team are working together to advance cybersecurity initiatives with industry and universities; and
WHEREAS, the Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Team, in collaboration with the Idaho National Laboratory, has successfully illustrated the demand and importance of advanced training for control systems cybersecurity through the instruction of more than 4,000 industry professionals and students; and
WHEREAS, on Friday, March 17, 2017, the 100th class for the Industrial Control Systems Cybersecurity (301) training course – also known as the Red/Blue training – will be complete;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, C.L. “BUTCH” OTTER, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim March 2017 to be
CYBERSECURITY ADVANCEMENT MONTH
in Idaho, and I encourage educators and leaders in government, business, education, technology and science to continue this cybersecurity partnership to help Idaho industries, professionals and students advance cybersecurity solutions to meet the challenges of tomorrow, and to consider engaging in the Idaho cyber talent pipeline by choosing advanced training and/or education to engage a cybersecurity career in Idaho.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Great Seal of the State of Idaho at the Capitol in Boise on this 1st day of March, in the year of our Lord two thousand and seventeen and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred forty-first and of the Statehood of Idaho the one hundred twenty- seventh.
