INL Research Scholars: SparkLab

Where Curiosity Ignites Research Excellence

About SparkLab

Stay tuned, registration opens in the spring.

Idaho National Laboratory’s premier high school research fellowship.

SparkLab is a rigorous, three-month research fellowship for high school juniors and seniors with a passion for science and discovery. Fellows work alongside INL scientists and engineers on authentic research projects aligned with the laboratory’s mission areas.

Through hands-on problem-solving and guided research, fellows develop practical scientific skills in a student-centered, mentor-supported environment. The fellowship concludes with a public research showcase where students present their findings to a panel of INL experts.

To accommodate strong interest in the fellowship, SparkLab offers a virtual mentoring option. Fellows are required to attend select in-person sessions, including orientation, laboratory tours and the final showcase.

Take your senior project to the next level through the SparkLab research fellowship.
