Idaho STEM Summer Camps
STEM Scholars, CyberCore and STEM Leaders in Training
What are INL Summer Camps?
The Idaho National Laboratory is hosting three summer camp programs this summer, STEM Scholars, CyberCore and STEM Leaders in Training. These programs are free and learning materials are provided.
Registration for the 2025 STEM Scholars and CyberCore summer camps opens Tuesday, April 1, at 9 a.m. and will remain open for 48 hours. In a change from previous years, registration will be based on a lottery system rather than on a first-come, first-served basis.
The first summer camp is STEM Scholars, which includes four-day sessions during June and July for students entering grades one through 12. Using a place-based learning approach, students focus on age-appropriate scientific research questions and real-world problem solving. This year’s theme is engineering. STEM Scholars engineering camps will be offered:
- June 16-19 for grades 3-5
- July 7-10 for grades 1-2
- July 14-17 for grades 3-5
- July 21-24 for grades 6-8
- July 28-31 for grades 1-2
- July 28-31 for grades 9-12
The second camp is CyberCore, which includes five-day sessions during June for students entering grades six through 12. Using a hands-on approach, students interested in computer programming, networking and cybersecurity gain access to industry mentors through demonstrations and lectures, and experience real-world exposure through facilities tours. CyberCore camps will be offered:
- June 9-13 for grades 6-8
- June 16-20 for grades 9-12
- June 23-27 for grades 9-12
New this year is the STEM Leaders in Training summer camp program, a leadership skills development program for middle school students who have previously participated in a STEM Scholars summer camp. Applications for the program are merit-based and include submitting a short essay. The application period for this program will open Tuesday, April 1, at 9 a.m. and remain open until Friday, April 4, at 5 p.m. This program is for students in grades 6-8 only and will be offered:
- June 9-12

- July 21-24
- July 28-31
Registration links for all programs will become available Tuesday, April 1 at 9 a.m. MT.
