Powering a Resilient Future: Nuclear Energy and Earth Day

About the Contest

Idaho National Laboratory’s K–12 STEM Education Program is launching a national art contest for students across the United States in celebration of Earth Day — observed each year on April 22 as a global initiative that encourages environmental awareness and action.

In recognition of this effort, INL is inviting students to explore how nuclear energy can support a resilient future through creativity and art.

This Year's Theme

"Powering a Resilient Future: Nuclear Energy and Earth Day"

What to Create

Students may depict ideas such as:

How to Enter

Artwork should be two-dimensional and created on a flat surface — drawings, paintings, or digital artwork — and must be submitted as a single image of the final piece.

A parent or guardian should submit the artwork through INL’s submission form and include all of the following:

  • Student first name
  • Student age
  • A brief 2–3 sentence description of the artwork
  • A high-quality image of the final piece

Winners will be announced through INL’s social media account. They will also be contacted directly through the email address provided in the original submission to arrange the delivery of prizes.

Format

2D artwork — drawing, painting, or digital. Single image file.

One entry per student

Submitted by a parent or guardian.

Prizes & recognition

Winners in each grade category receive prizes. All eligible entries displayed in INL's virtual gallery.
