b'Low-level waste (LLW) is radioactive waste that does not fall in the other categories of high-level radioactive waste, SNF, transuranic waste, byproduct material (as defined in the Atomic Energy Act of 1954) or naturally occurring radioactive material. A common misperception is that low-level waste has low radioactivity. That isnt always the case. For example, some LLW has such a high activity for decades or longer that it must be handled remotely at a significant distance from workers. INL disposes of remote-handled low-level waste generated at its facilities in robust stainless-steel liners placed in reinforced concrete vaults at the Remote-Handled Low-Level Waste Disposal Facility. INL ships other low-level waste generated on-site to disposal facilities located in other states.'
