b'Regional University HighlightsMONTANA STATE UNIVERSITY:July 18-19, INLs regional university outreach and the Center for Quantum Actinide Science and Technology hosted faculty associated with the MonArk Quantum Foundry at Montana State University. The purpose was to foster future collaborations in the realm of quantum information sciences, particularly in exploring novel quantum phenomena within correlated actinide quantum materials, quantum chemistry, quantum information and quantum engineering.There was a full day of talks and a full day of tours to see materials testing capabilities at INL. Ideas for future collaborations and training of students were discussed.NATIONAL UNIVERSITY CONSORTIUM (NUC):Fission battery workshop seriesThe fission battery workshop Lightweight Materials to enable Fission Batteries was held Nov. 8-9, 2022, in person at INL and via Teams. The workshops outcomes will be available in a report. Information and discussions from the workshop helped inform parts of the FY-24 annual Laboratory Directed Research and Development call released on Jan. 9, 2023. NUC and the Center for Advanced EnergyStudies Winter Collaboration eventNUC and the Center for Advanced Energy Studies faculty visited INL on Jan. 24-25, 2023, to learn about laboratory programs and initiatives. This was a networking event for faculty and early career staff to learn about INLs initiatives, core capabilities in research and development, the Laboratory Directed Research and Development program, INL proposalNUC and the Center for Advanced Energy Studies Winter Collaboration eventoffice support and new capabilities of joint interest.
