2020 Laboratory Director Awards

A note from John Wagner, Idaho National Laboratory director:

As you all know, we have been closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic as circumstances evolve across the country and here in eastern Idaho. Recent guidance from the CDC and the Department of Energy has led leadership to make a hard decision to cap all gatherings at 50 individuals to help curb the spread of COVID-19 and its variants.

Unfortunately, these requirements will not allow us to continue with our previously planned Laboratory Director Awards ceremony. It is with a great deal of disappointment that I tell you our Aug. 20 event has been cancelled.

The Laboratory Director Awards ceremony has long been an opportunity to come together with our families and colleagues to celebrate our laboratory’s accomplishments. Although the current restrictions do not allow us to gather, they do not in any way lessen the very real achievements that you have all made in FY 2020. I want to reassure you all that you are recognized, your accomplishments are valued, and that we will still celebrate them. Your safety, however, must be our first priority.

Our team is working hard to find alternative avenues to celebrate your successes. We will be in communication with you all on these opportunities. Please also watch your email for more information on receiving the trophies and plaques that so many of you have earned. All Laboratory Director Awards winners should expect to see their monetary awards included with their paycheck for the week of Aug. 16 as planned.

If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact our team at inlevents@inl.gov.
