INL to hold focus-on meeting highlighting construction opportunities
IDAHO FALLS — Idaho National Laboratory plans to invest in infrastructure over the next five years.
INL representatives will meet on Tuesday, March 14, with regional construction vendors to discuss opportunities to partner with the laboratory to support upcoming development. In addition to getting a look at project needs for the next five years, meeting attendees will learn about the INL work and safety environment, how to become an INL construction vendor, and INL business processes.
The focus-on will be from 8 a.m. to noon at the Energy Innovation Laboratory meeting center, 775 University Boulevard in Idaho Falls. Procurement holds events such as this for market research and market expansion in specific areas of need. In this case, INL is seeking to broaden the subcontractor base for construction and maintenance.
More than 120 individuals from contractors in the region, mostly Idaho and some from Utah and Wyoming, have registered for the meeting. Registration is now closed.
Day-to-day management and operation of the laboratory is the responsibility of Battelle Energy Alliance (BEA), which subcontracted more than $136 million to Idaho businesses in 2016.
INL is part of the Department of Energy’s complex of national laboratories. The laboratory performs work in each of DOE’s strategic goal areas: energy, national security, science and environment. INL is the nation’s leading center for nuclear energy research and development.
